The company is growing with a small team of full-time and part-time contractors working across the Asia-Pacific region, currently all reporting to the Operations Manager, also based in the Philippines whilst our Managing Director is based in Brisbane, Australia. We deliberately hire talent in different regions of the world to keep costs down, create diversity, and build a multi-lingual team.
Role Purpose
The Web Designer & UI/UX Specialist will be responsible for shaping and enhancing Reliability Academy's digital presence by creating intuitive interfaces and consistent brand experiences across our marketing website, academy site, and branded mobile app. By leveraging user-centered design principles and analytics, this role aims to improve conversions, user satisfaction, and overall brand loyalty. Beyond day-to-day design tasks, this position also supports the wider team with ad-hoc graphic design needs, ensuring a cohesive look and feel in line with our brand guidelines.
Responsibilities
As Web Designer & UI/UX Specialist your initial responsibilities will consist of:
Website Design & Maintenance
- Maintain and update the Reliability Academy marketing website, ensuring it remains visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimised for conversions.
- Oversee the academy site, focusing on improving the user experience for course participants, simplifying navigation, and streamlining the purchase and learning experience.
- Implement changes to enhance website performance, including page speed optimisations, mobile responsiveness, and SEO best practices.
App Design & Development
- Design and maintain the UI/UX of the branded Reliability Academy app, ensuring a seamless user experience across mobile devices.
- Work closely with our in-house developers to ensure the design and functionality of the app aligns with user expectations and enhances the learning experience.
- Regularly review and update app features, based on user feedback and new design trends.
- Contribute to the release planning process, prioritising updates that improve engagement and user satisfaction.
UI/UX Design
- Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for both the website and app, ensuring that users can easily navigate, interact with content, and complete key actions (such as enrolling in courses or accessing materials).
- Conduct user research, create wireframes, and develop prototypes to test and iterate on new features or designs.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to ensure designs align with business goals and meet the needs of users.
Graphic Design & Brand Support
- Support the marketing and wider team with ad-hoc graphic design tasks, including the creation of marketing assets such as banners, icons, and promotional graphics.
- Ensure all designs adhere to Reliability Academy's brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across all platforms and touchpoints.
- Design social media visuals and presentation materials, where needed, for campaigns, webinars, and events.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, marketers, and product managers to deliver designs that are not only visually appealing but also functional and optimised for performance.
- Collaborate with the content team to ensure web and app content is effectively presented and easy to engage with.
- Provide design expertise to support new product launches, marketing campaigns, and website updates.
Performance Monitoring & Optimisation
- Track user behaviour on the website and app, utilising tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, or similar to identify areas for improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to continuously improve the UI/UX of the website and app, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement.
- Regularly review and analyse conversion rates, user retention, and other key metrics, making adjustments to design and functionality as needed.

Your Skills
- Your knowledge, skills and experience:
- Proven experience in web design, UI/UX design, and app design, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
- You have experience working in a business environment (not only freelancing work)
- Highly proficient in Figma
- Experience using Canva or similar tools for graphic design tasks.
- Strong understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Experience with user testing, wireframing, and prototyping.
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics or Hotjar to track user behavior and make data-driven design decisions to improve conversion
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and front-end development is a plus.
- Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
What's on Offer
This is a long-term virtual role allowing you to work from home. You will work during Australian business hours i.e. your workday will fall between 7 am to 7 pm GMT+10 to ensure overlap with the rest of the team. There will be a 3-month probation period.
Base pay between USD 600 and USD 1,000 per month depending on experience and skills, with a 13th-month pay in December, 20 days of paid leave, an annual allowance of USD 1,000 towards Private Health Insurance and a chance to earn a performance bonus up to 3 months of salary (subject to business and personal performance).
