Job Description
An established financial markets organisation is looking to hire a senior Platform Engineer to strengthen its production engineering and reliability capabilities. This is a senior individual contributor / technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who can operate across software engineering, platform engineering and production reliability within a highly regulated, high-availability environment.
Role
You will take a senior role in shaping and improving production reliability across critical technology platforms, with responsibility spanning SLOs, capacity, incident response, postmortems and production hardening. A core focus will be reducing operational toil through software engineering, automation and internal platform tooling rather than manual operational processes.
You will work across Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability and performance-sensitive infrastructure, while partnering closely with application engineering teams on release readiness, deployment strategy and operational resilience. The role also offers the opportunity to drive the use of AI and agentic workflows across operations, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, remediation and change review.
Requirements
You should have at least 10 years of experience across Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or Software Engineering, with significant experience supporting large-scale production environments. Strong hands-on programming capability is important, with experience writing production-grade code in languages such as Python, Go, Kotlin, TypeScript or Rust rather than relying primarily on scripting.
You should have deep practical experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability and cloud platforms, ideally GCP or AWS, together with a strong understanding of distributed systems and production failure modes. Experience building internal engineering platforms, developer tooling or automation used by other engineering teams would be highly relevant. Exposure to AI agents or AI-enabled operational workflows would be advantageous, as would experience within financial services, capital markets or other regulated environments.
