About the Role

We're looking for a dependable, technically capable Virtual Drug Testing Proctor to join a US-based healthcare technology company specializing in remote health services. You'll serve as the company's on-screen representative, conducting live, guided drug testing sessions in a professional, controlled, and consistent manner while protecting the integrity and accuracy of every session.

This is not a customer service or monitoring role. Session control is the single most critical competency for this seat: success means you—not the participant, a technology issue, or an unexpected circumstance—are directing the flow of the session. You'll take control of a remote session, provide clear direction, recognize when a session is moving off course, and confidently course-correct when needed, all while balancing appropriate authority with patience and compassion.

Because testing sessions are scheduled appointments, reliability and accountability are essential. You're expected to be present, prepared, and ready to conduct each assigned session at its scheduled start time.

Timezone: Central Time. The operating window is 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM CT, covered by two Proctors working overlapping 8-hour shifts (for example, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM CT), Monday through Friday.

What You'll Do

Session Control & Leadership

  • Confidently take control of and lead a guided remote testing session from beginning to end: establish expectations, provide clear direction, and ensure all required procedures are followed
  • Maintain continuous awareness of the participant, testing materials, environment, and process throughout each session
  • Recognize when a session is moving off track—whether from participant confusion, technology issues, unexpected circumstances, or procedural concerns—and take appropriate action to regain control
  • Keep sessions moving forward without unnecessary delay, remaining calm and professional in the face of resistance, confusion, or frustration
  • Know when an issue can be resolved independently and when it requires escalation

Live Proctoring & Technical Support

  • Conduct live, guided virtual testing sessions using Zoom and other approved platforms, guiding participants through drug testing and other applicable testing services
  • Adhere consistently to approved proctoring scripts and testing protocols, without skipping required steps, taking shortcuts, or making unauthorized changes
  • Provide clear, calm instructions, adapting communication to the participant's level of understanding while maintaining required testing standards
  • Troubleshoot common technical issues for participants, including camera and microphone access, connectivity, lighting, device positioning, visibility of testing materials, and platform functionality

Testing Integrity & Documentation

  • Protect the accuracy, integrity, and defensibility of each session by staying alert to small details that could affect the outcome
  • Identify and appropriately document irregularities or circumstances that could affect the integrity or validity of a session
  • Complete all required session records, notes, outcomes, observations, and escalation documentation accurately and promptly after each session

Communication & Escalation

  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with participants and internal team members, adapting when a participant is confused, anxious, or frustrated
  • Escalate situations when necessary, providing complete and accurate information so the next person can act quickly
  • Collaborate with the broader team to resolve issues and maintain consistency across sessions

What We're Looking For

Non-Negotiables

  • 2+ years in a customer-facing role, preferably remote customer support, virtual care, testing, or a similar environment
  • 2+ years using video-conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and technical acumen, comfortable working with technology
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to confidently manage and control a remote interaction, and to recognize and course-correct when a situation drifts off track
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to multitask while maintaining accuracy
  • Reliable and timely—understands that scheduled sessions cannot simply be delayed, and arrives prepared and ready to perform every time
  • A reliable home workspace: a quiet space free from distractions with strong, stable internet connectivity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing instruction, guidance, or training to individuals
  • Spanish or other multilingual ability
  • Experience balancing authority and protocol adherence with patience, empathy, and professionalism, including with difficult or nervous participants
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team
