Work Arrangement: Work from Office

Location: Philippines - Pampanga (Angeles)

Schedule: Morning shift

Job description:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate technician to maintain, restore, and repair a collection of vintage Apple computers, including the Apple ][ series, early Macintosh models, and associated peripherals. This hands-on role involves detailed electronic diagnostics, component-level repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure these historically significant machines remain fully operational.

This position will suit someone with a deep appreciation for Apple's history, a strong electronics background, and the patience and precision needed to bring classic technology back to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain vintage Apple ][, Macintosh, and related hardware.
  • Perform motherboard-level repairs, including soldering, trace repair, and component replacement.
  • Restore and calibrate floppy drives, CRT displays, and vintage keyboards/mice.
  • Source or fabricate replacement parts and connectors where originals are no longer available.
  • Maintain detailed logs of repairs, parts used, and restoration history.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to prevent deterioration of electronic and plastic components.
  • Collaborate with curators/owners to preserve authenticity during restoration.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and static-safe work environment.

Qualification and requirements:

  • Electronics or Computer Technician background (Certificate or Degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in motherboard and component-level repair.
  • Strong soldering and diagnostic skills, including use of oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with vintage computing hardware (Apple ][, Macintosh 128K/512K/Plus, SE/30, etc.) highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and repair manuals.
  • High attention to detail and methodical approach to restoration work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:

  • Experience with EPROM programming, capacitor replacement (recapping), and CRT servicing.
  • Knowledge of classic Mac OS and Apple DOS environments.
  • Interest in computer history, preservation, or collection management.
