Job Description

About us

Lucky Fours is a fast-growing premium watch ecommerce brand. We invest heavily in AI and automation across our internal operations — several AI systems are already in production, making decisions and doing real work company-wide every day. We didn't bolt AI onto existing workflows; we're rebuilding the operating layer of the company around it. We're now expanding that layer significantly, on an aggressive timeline, and hiring a second engineer to own a large piece of it.

What this is

We make direct-to-consumer watch ads for paid social. Not UGC. Not talking heads. High-end AI voiceover ads where the edit does all the work — the visuals, the sound, the rhythm, the captions.

You will work directly with a creative strategist. You will get a brief for every video: the angle, the script, the voice, the music, and visual direction. But the brief is direction, not a spec sheet. The design of the video is yours.

1 to 2 videos per week. Not five. We are not optimising for volume. We would rather have two videos that were genuinely designed than five that were assembled.

Examples of what we expect

This is the level. Watch all four before you apply. Look at the pacing, the sound design, the captions, the way the visuals sit against the voice.

We are not looking for these to be recreated. We are looking for someone who can work at this level and bring something we haven't done yet.

If this is not the kind of work you want to be doing, this is not the role.

What you'll actually do

Plan before you cut. Every video starts with a creative direction — how it will open, where it turns, how it will feel. You decide that, not the timeline.

Choose the visuals. We have a library with thousands of clips. The brief points you at a direction. Which specific shot goes on which specific line is your call, and it should be defensible.

Design the sound. Not just placing a music track. Sound effects, texture, risers, impacts, ambience. Where the sound carries the video, and where it gets out of the way.

Analyse the music properly. We give you the track. You work out where the beat should build, where to hold tension, where to release it, where the momentum turns, and how the script's biggest line lands on top of it. This is one of the biggest differences between a good ad and a great one.

Design the voice. Generating a file in ElevenLabs is not voice work. We want someone who processes it — EQ, compression, de-essing, saturation, space — so it sounds recorded, not generated. And who re-times the pauses by hand instead of accepting what the model gave them.

Captions. Clean, considered, designed. Typography that suits the video. Not a default auto-caption preset dropped on top.

Animation and motion. Text, transitions, graphic elements. Motion that has a reason, not motion for its own sake.

Hook the viewer in 3 seconds. Before a single word is understood. You should have opinions about how to do this.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong aesthetic sense. You can look at a frame and tell whether it works.
  • Colour and grading ability — you choose a look on purpose and can explain the choice.
  • Real sound design skills, not just dropping a track under a cut.
  • Premium software. Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut. Not CapCut.
  • Attention to detail that is visible in the finished video.
  • Someone who varies their approach. If every video you make looks like the last one, this will not work here.

What this role is not

Combining clips, adding auto captions, and submitting. If that's the process, we'll see it in the first video.

We're also not looking for a UGC editor. Different craft, different job.

The deal

  • 1 to 2 videos per week
  • 48-hour turnaround per brief
  • Working directly with a creative strategist, with real feedback
  • Remote
  • Rate: TBD

How to apply

Write READ IT at the top of your message so we know you actually read this.

Send your full name, resume and two videos. Two only. Not a full portfolio, not a showreel. Your two best high-end edits — the ones where you did the design work, not just the assembly.

Tell us in one or two lines what you did on each and why you made the choices you made.

Send it to [Confidential Information].

The process

1. Application review. We watch your two videos.

2. Paid test brief. Shortlisted applicants get one real brief, paid at full rate. Same 48-hour turnaround as the actual job.

We do this because a showreel can hide the parts of this job we care about most. A video can look great and still have a raw voiceover, a track dropped in flat, and no sound design underneath. The test tells us what a portfolio can't.

3. Feedback and decision. You'll get real notes on the test either way.
