Job Summary:
The Veterinary Technician provides nursing care and medical support to animal patients while assisting veterinarians in examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and surgical procedures. This role is responsible for ensuring patient safety, maintaining accurate medical records, supporting pet owners, and contributing to the efficient operation of the clinic
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during consultations, treatments, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and prescribed treatments as directed.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including post-operative care.
- Collect laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic testing.
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring, dental procedures, and surgical preparation.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
- Monitor and manage inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, medications, and wellness programs.
- Ensure compliance with clinic protocols, safety standards, and animal welfare practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree, certification, or equivalent training in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Nursing, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or similar healthcare environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal handling, nursing care, diagnostic procedures, and veterinary treatments.
- Experience assisting in surgeries and monitoring anesthesia is an advantage.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
