he Vendor Manager is an individual contributor role within the Procurement team. The VM has accountability for developing sourcing strategies for the company spanning all categories and businesses within. The Vendor Manager will research and gather supporting data &
information required to execute the sourcing initiatives to maximize cost savings on products and services purchased from our suppliers. The VM will negotiate with vendors as required and execute the tactical plan supporting the strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- The VM is accountable for a portfolio of assigned vendors with a primary expectation to:
Identify, plan and execute potential sourcing strategies to improve the companies overall delivery onstrategic imperatives
- Work with internal/external stakeholders to determine product and service requirements, utilizing best practices to source and procure
- Develop and draft the business elements and legal framework documentation for products and services procured for the company
- Lead process analysis ensuring optimization of the company's sourcing process
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Solid understanding of negotiation theory, strategies and practices
- Solid understanding of strategic sourcing concepts and best practices
- High degree of business ethics and accountability
- Strong business and financial acumen - including proven experience in structuring deals, drafting legal agreements, risk mitigation and skilled negotiations
- Ability to maintain perspective and confidence in face of difficult contract negotiations, tight deadlines and client expectations
- Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking and planning skills
- Proven ability to analyze complex, often ambiguous, data and produce comprehensive recommendations and proposals
- Competency with Microsoft office suite of tools, e-contract management and competitive bidding tools an asset. Specifically, experience with ARIBA and SAP Contract Life Cycle Management (CLM) and e-sourcing tools an asset
Required Experience:
- Experience in a related role (e.g. vendor manager, vendor relationship manager, strategic sourcing and supply chain professional, supply chain management professional)
- Experience structuring, writing, and editing legal contracts
- Commodity management, including procurement and experience in competitive bidding processes including leading RFX processes end to end in highly organized, collaborative and successful fashion
- Proven experience structuring deals and leading product or service contract negotiations
