We are seeking an experienced
VDC Manager to lead virtual design and construction (VDC) coordination for complex commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for independently managing the entire clash detection and resolution process, facilitating coordination meetings with multidisciplinary subcontractor teams, and ensuring seamless model integration across all trades.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading VDC coordination efforts, excels in stakeholder management, and possesses strong technical expertise in Navisworks and the Autodesk ecosystem. This role requires a proactive leader who can drive accountability, resolve conflicts efficiently, and deliver coordinated models that support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead clash detection and coordination for assigned commercial construction projects from project kickoff through completion.
- Facilitate and lead VDC coordination meetings with multidisciplinary teams, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, structural, elevator, and other specialty subcontractors.
- Manage the complete clash resolution lifecycle by:
- Identifying clashes using Navisworks.
- Assigning responsibility to appropriate trade partners.
- Establishing resolution timelines.
- Verifying successful resolution through updated model submissions.
- Coordinate and manage model integration across multiple disciplines within the Autodesk platform.
- Monitor project coordination progress and ensure subcontractors meet coordination milestones and deadlines.
- Drive accountability among external modelers, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and construction teams to resolve design conflicts before construction.
- Review model quality, coordination standards, and BIM/VDC best practices to ensure project consistency.
- Maintain accurate coordination documentation, meeting minutes, clash reports, and project tracking logs.
- Identify potential constructability issues early and recommend practical solutions that minimize field conflicts.
- Support continuous improvement of VDC coordination processes and project workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), BIM coordination, or construction coordination.
- Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Navisworks, with proven experience independently leading clash detection—not just assisting.
- Demonstrated experience leading VDC coordination meetings involving multiple subcontractor disciplines.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to independently manage a complete project lifecycle (typically 6–12 months).
- Experience coordinating complex commercial construction projects with high-density MEP systems.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to confidently lead meetings and manage diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple coordination activities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across distributed project teams.
- Experience working on healthcare facility construction projects.
- Familiarity with design-assist project delivery methods.
- Experience coordinating with large architectural firms, engineering consultants, and specialty subcontractors.
- Working knowledge of the Autodesk ecosystem, including:
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
- Knowledge of BIM execution plans (BEP), model management, and industry coordination standards.
