Role Description

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a detail-obsessed, deadline-driven Tax Operations Specialist who thrives in a

fast-moving environment and takes pride in getting the details right — every single time.

You'll thrive here if you:

● Love bringing order to complexity and never let a deadline slip

● Stay calm under pressure and know how to prioritize when everything feels urgent

● Proactively spot problems before they become fires

● Communicate clearly and reliably — internally and externally

● Are excited to be part of a growing fintech that's changing how payroll works

● Want to grow your skills in a company that invests in its people

● You don't need to know everything on day one - we'll invest in your growth and get you up to

speed on our tools, workflows and the payroll tax landscape

What You'll Do

Tax Filings & Payments

● Manage, monitor, and process tax filings across multiple US state and local agencies to

ensure employer compliance

● Make payments for outstanding taxes, including daily EFT credit submissions and wire

approvals

● Handle Quarterly SUI (State Unemployment Insurance) rate exchanges

Employer Enrollment & Lifecycle

● Set up and manage Third Party Authorization (TPA) and Power of Attorney (POA)

enrollments with state agencies, enabling to file and pay on behalf of employers

● Manage the end-to-end employer cancellation process — coordinate final filings, process

final payments, and complete agency deactivations

Communications & Issue Resolution

● Triage and respond to tax notices from state and local agencies

● Translate complex agency-level issues (rejected filings, tax notices, payment errors) into

clear, timely updates for CX teams and partners

● Communicate tax-related information internally through Zendesk or similar platforms

Process & Documentation

● Stay current on state agency requirements and ensure adherence across all processes

● Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy

● Maintain agency-specific information in the team's State Jurisdiction Matrix

How We Work

We move fast but prioritize quality. We're remote-first, flat in structure, and big on transparency.

Everyone owns their work — there's no passing the buck here. We support each other across teams

and celebrate wins together.

You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Customer Experience, Onboarding and

Compliance — and your voice will matter. Whether it's flagging a broken agency process or

suggesting a workflow improvement, we want you to speak up and help us get better.

We use Notion to centralize knowledge, Slack for everyday communication, and Linear to track

operational work.

Work Setup

This role is Philippines-based and requires availability aligned to US tax deadlines, including

extended support during quarterly filing periods (January, April, July, October) and year-end filings

(W-2/1099 season).

Qualifications

Must-Haves

● 3+ years of experience in US payroll tax or tax filing environments

● Experience working with US state and local tax agencies

● Strong knowledge of US Payroll Tax — enrollments, multi-agency filings, and employer

lifecycle

● Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

● Excellent communication skills with a partner-first mindset

● Ability to flex schedule to accommodate seasonal volume peaks and time-sensitive filing

cycles

● Philippines-based; comfortable working US-aligned hours during peak filing periods

Nice-to-Have

● Experience with MasterTax or similar tax automation platforms

● Startup or fast-growth company experience

● Familiarity with payroll infrastructure or fintech

● Experience with process documentation or workflow improvement

We'll consider candidates with strong fundamentals and a demonstrated ability to learn fast — if you're not a perfect match on paper but you're driven and detail-obsessed, we want to hear from you.
