DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Tax Reviewer at our firm, you will play a critical role in overseeing and reviewing complex tax returnsprimarily S-corporation returns for our independent pharmacy clients. Your focus will be on ensuring accuracy, optimizing tax positions, and maintaining compliance with evolving tax regulations. In addition to technical review responsibilities, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic tax planning guidance and maintaining strong relationships.

Tax Review & Compliance

  • Review federal and state S-corp tax returns with a focus on pharmacy clients.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance in all reviewed returns.
  • Evaluate supporting documentation and calculations prepared by team members.
  • Maintain working knowledge of IRS guidelines, state-specific rules, and pharmacy-related tax considerations.

Client-Focused Advisory

  • Participate or lead proactive tax planning discussions, particularly around S-Corp structures and owner compensation strategies.
  • Provide technical insight into estimated payments, deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
  • Communicate complex tax issues clearly and confidently to clients.

Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Guide, mentor, and provide feedback to junior staff and preparers.
  • Collaborate with tax preparers to ensure accuracy and completeness of tax data.
  • Assist in developing and improving internal tax processes and quality control protocols.

Audit Support & Documentation

  • Assist clients during IRS or state audits by supplying accurate records and support.
  • Ensure well-organized documentation of tax work papers and client correspondence.

Technology & Innovation

  • Utilize modern tax software tools (e.g., Lacerte, QuickBooks) to review and enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Recommend new tools or process enhancements for better team performance.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and responsive client service approach.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA Qualification is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years U.S. tax review experience (S-corps required)
  • Experience with individual, corporate, and partnership tax and tax planning.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy-specific tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in tax software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Lacerte)
  • Leadership experience preferred
