CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a growing U.S.-based CPA firm providing tax, bookkeeping, and advisory services to small business owners, partnerships, S-Corporations, rental real estate investors, and individual taxpayers. Built on a foundation of responsiveness and strong client relationships, the firm prides itself on delivering high-quality service while maintaining a personalized experience for clients.
As the firm continues to grow, they are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who can take ownership of tax engagements, communicate confidently with clients, and help create the operational capacity needed to support future growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare U.S. tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and occasional 1120 returns;
- Own tax engagements from document collection through review-ready completion;
- Analyze client documentation and identify missing information required to complete returns accurately;
- Communicate directly with clients regarding document requests, clarifications, and follow-up items;
- Prepare clean, organized, and review-ready workpapers;Track engagement status and manage deadlines effectively;
- Flag discrepancies, missing information, risks, and planning opportunities proactively;
- Manage workflow efficiently and provide timely updates to leadership regarding project status and review timelines;
- Assist with reviewing straightforward individual tax returns as needed;
- Support bookkeeping activities on a limited basis during non-peak tax periods;
- Contribute to process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and documentation best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- Minimum of 3 years of U.S. tax preparation experience within a CPA firm or public accounting environment;
- Strong experience independently preparing Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120S tax returns;
- Ability to prepare review-ready tax returns with minimal supervision;
- Experience communicating directly with clients through email and client portals;
- Strong understanding of tax return workflows, supporting documentation, and workpaper preparation;
- Excellent written English communication skills;
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail;
- Comfortable managing multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously;
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience using CCH Axcess;
- Experience using TaxDome;
- Experience reviewing simple individual tax returns;
- Exposure to bookkeeping and financial statement preparation;
- Experience working remotely for a U.S.-based CPA firm;
- Experience serving real estate clients;CPA, or equivalent professional designation.
