**This is a full-time independent contractor role. Candidates must be able to commit exclusively to this position and not engage in part-time or freelance work once hired.**

CLIENT BACKGROUND

Our client is a US-based virtual accounting firm with over 15 years of experience providing tax, bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory services to small businesses, entrepreneurs, and real estate investors. As a Certified Profit First Professional firm, they help clients gain control of their finances and build sustainable, growth-focused strategies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare US federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations (C-Corp, S-Corp), partnerships, and clients across various industries, with a strong focus on real estate investors and rental property owners
  • Assist with tax planning and basic advisory functions
  • Reconcile books to tax returns and prepare supporting workpapers and journal entries
  • Manage sales tax filings and provide support on payroll compliance
  • Handle occasional bookkeeping tasks and special projects during the off-season
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, addressing questions and guiding them through key tax-related matters
  • Collaborate with the team in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and fun environment
  • Handle other assigned tasks as needed to support the team's workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on US tax preparation experience in a US-based firms
  • Strong understanding of corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns
  • Familiarity with real estate-related tax work, including rental property and investor reporting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage directly with clients
  • Strong grasp of journal entries, year-end adjustments, and tax-to-book reconciliation
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Nice-to-Haves:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent designation (not required, but a plus)
  • Experience with Drake Tax (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with tools like Xero, Keeper, Landlord Studio, LedgerSync, or Tallyfor
  • Background in tax planning, payroll, and/or sales tax filings
  • Knowledge of real estate-specific tax strategies (e.g., 1031 exchange, cost segregation) is a major plus
