Our client is a US –based firm that has been delivering specialized accounting and financial services to nonprofit organizations for over 25 years. They take a highly individualized approach, tailoring their support to meet each organization's unique needs across the full accounting spectrum — from day-to-day bookkeeping to CFO-level financial oversight.
Beyond core accounting and compliance, the firm serves as a strategic partner to its clients, offering advisory services such as business analysis and strategic planning. ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is a full-time, remote position focused on managing financial statements, analyzing data, processing journal entries, and overseeing finance-related tasks for multiple clients. As our growing business continues to expand, we are seeking an accounting professional who looks beyond the numbers – someone who can analyze client operations and has a strong drive to manipulate data to address our clients business and accounting needs.
We are looking for an individual with a passion for business and accounting data, coupled with a keen understanding of business processes, data collection, and efficiency. Accounting education and experience is essential, with non-profit experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to manage multiple projects, and comfortable working under deadlines. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical for success in this fully remote environment, as is comfort with video meetings and virtual collaboration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with multiple clients, reviewing staff work and providing oversight
- Primarily working with QB Online
- Maintaining and continuously improving financial processes, assessing financial operations and recommending efficiencies
- Preparing journal entries, performing analyses, and reconciling accounts as needed
- Handling investment accounting tasks
- Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of monthly financial packages, including financials and business analysis related to cash flow, net assets and operations
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP, as well as federal and state regulatory requirements
- Analyzing data through downloads from various financial systems, primarily using Excel
- Working with a wide range of accounting technology solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 5 years of U.S. bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred
- Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach to work
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Customer service-focused, providing timely and accurate responses to data requests from directors, team members and clients
- Self-motivated with a strong curiosity to work independently and achieve goals
- Close collaboration with the managing director and owner to manage client relationships and ensure contract deliverables are met
- Strong teamwork skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
