CLIENT BACKGROUND

Our client is a growing U.S.-based fractional CFO and outsourced accounting advisory practice founded by an experienced finance executive with extensive leadership experience across corporate finance and accounting operations.

The firm supports small and mid-sized businesses across industries including:

  • retail,
  • food service,
  • distribution,
  • professional services,
  • and senior living

As the outsourced accounting division continues to expand, the firm is hiring a Senior Accountant to support a growing portfolio of U.S.-based clients. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of client accounting responsibilities while contributing to process improvements and operational excellence within a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping for multiple U.S.-based clients
  • Handle month-end close processes including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records across client accounts
  • Support cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping projects as needed
  • Execute month-end close processes within established reporting deadlines.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies proactively.
  • Utilize AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to improve accounting workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and transitioning accounting workflows
  • Collaborate directly with leadership on improving accounting processes and operational efficiencies
  • Communicate with clients regarding accounting concerns, missing information, and financial clarifications
  • Help document and improve internal workflows and accounting procedures
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of recurring accounting deliverables
  • Support ad hoc accounting and operational projects as the firm continues to grow

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

First 30 Days

  • Become familiar with the firm's clients, workflows, systems, and accounting processes
  • Build understanding of recurring monthly accounting responsibilities and client expectations
  • Learn internal workflows, communication standards, and operational procedures
  • Begin supporting reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and cleanup projects
  • Document workflows as you learn them, noting gaps and undocumented steps
  • Establish reliability, responsiveness, and strong follow-through within the team

First 60–90 Days

  • Independently manage recurring accounting responsibilities for assigned clients
  • Take ownership of reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Support onboarding and transition of new client accounts as needed
  • Own the drafting and refinement of SOPs for recurring tasks and month-end close processes, transforming informal procedures into documented, repeatable workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with at least 3 years supporting U.S.-based accounting clients or firms.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  • Experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience supporting law firms and/or trust accounting (IOLTA) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the confidence to communicate professionally with clients.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and continuously improve processes.
  • Exposure to or willingness to leverage AI tools and automation technologies to improve accounting workflows and efficiency.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with accounting cleanup or catch-up bookkeeping projects.
  • Experience with client onboarding, accounting system implementations, or data migrations.
  • Experience with practice management software such as Canopy or similar platforms.
  • Experience creating or maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
  • Familiarity with accounting automation tools and AI-powered workflow solutions.
  • Experience supporting growing or startup businesses where adaptability and process improvement are highly valued.
