Job Description

THE ROLE

Our real estate investment and development firm client is looking for a Senior Accountant who will utilize professional knowledge of accounting principles and systems in carrying out assignments related to the proper accounting of real estate portfolio transactions. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines are met. The ideal candidate will have real estate accounting experience in GAAP, financial reporting, construction, and related loan compliance experience for office, retail, multifamily, self-storage, hotel, and development assets.

LOCATION: Must be residing in the Philippines – Remote.

ENVIRONMENT: Philippines and International Teams.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (8:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Experience:

  • 2-3 years experience in the real estate industry
  • Experience in preparing budgets is ideal
  • Understanding/experience of the CAM reconciliation process is preferred

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of property management/accounting software (preferably Yardi and Sage), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written with owners, tenants, and coworkers
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships in, a professional phone manner
  • Good organizational/multi-task skills and the ability to allocate one's time effectively and manage tight deadlines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Be a part of the month-end close process ensuring timely close
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure accuracy
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations on balance sheet items along with reviewing income statement activities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Handle acquisition, financing, and disposition entries
  • Prepare elimination entries for consolidated reporting
  • Arrange year-end equity allocation to members/partners
  • Prepare partner monthly, quarterly, or annual financial reporting
  • Review construction in progress and monitor the completion of the construction projects
  • Prepare monthly construction draws for development and submission to partners and lenders for payment
  • Prepare CAM reconciliations in connection with tenant move-in/out, annual budgets, and annual reconciliations
  • Support the budgeting process for properties and corporate entities
  • Handle accounting functions as related to the corporate and trust entities
  • Work with CPA firms to provide the needed data related to audits, tax, reviews, agreed-upon procedures, etc.
  • Prepare fixed assets capitalization schedule
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly loan compliance and respond to lender inquiries
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly board report
  • Handle variance analysis
  • Prepare gross potential report monthly for multifamily
  • Review third-party reporting and synchronize it to the accounting system
  • Handle ad-hoc assignments as required
