Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for providing proactive shipment tracking, customer communication, carrier management, and operational support across multiple customer accounts. This role serves as a key point of contact between carriers, customers, and internal teams to ensure on-time service, accurate shipment visibility, timely issue resolution, and compliance with company and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Shipment Tracking & Visibility
- Monitor and track shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), MacroPoint, Indemni, and other visibility tools to maintain shipment status.
- Provide accurate and timely shipment updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Enter shipment notes and maintain detailed records of all shipment activity.
- Ensure tracking compliance requirements are met by carriers.
Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding shipment status and service issues.
- Maintain professional communication with customers, carriers, and internal departments.
- Manage email correspondence and group communication channels.
- Provide proactive communication regarding delays, service failures, and exceptions.
- Support customer-specific communication requirements and service expectations.
Carrier Management & Compliance
- Monitor carrier performance and tracking compliance.
- Identify and report recurring carrier issues and service failures.
- Apply carrier fines and compliance measures when applicable for non-tracking, late deliveries, or documentation deficiencies.
- Work with carriers to resolve shipment issues and improve service performance.
Exception Management & Service Recovery
- Investigate and resolve shipment delays, missed deliveries, and service failures.
- Escalate critical issues according to department procedures.
- Coordinate recovery efforts to minimize service disruptions.
- Support advanced exception management and problem-resolution activities.
Account & Customer Operations Support
- Support customer-specific tracking processes and operational requirements.
- Manage shipment activity for designated customer accounts and Single Source locations.
- Maintain knowledge of customer workflows, service expectations, and communication standards.
- Assist with USPS operations, brokerage support activities, bed load management, and other specialized operational functions as assigned.
Documentation & Process Compliance
- Follow department SOPs and workflow standards.
- Maintain accurate shipment documentation and audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and company procedures.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, customer service, or operations experience preferred.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and shipment tracking tools is a plus.
