About the Job
Our healthcare client is looking for a Payroll Analyst who will mainly operate as the primary individual contributor for end-to-end payroll runs, handling employee/management inquiries and resolving discrepancies independently.
Responsibilities
- Process and review payroll for accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze payroll data, employee records, deductions, earnings, bonuses, commissions, and adjustments.
- Review timekeeping and attendance records and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform payroll audits and reconciliation between payroll, accounting, and financial records.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee questions, and payment issues.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure changes are properly documented.
- Process new hires, terminations, pay-rate changes, promotions, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
- Calculate and verify payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and other withholdings.
- Assist with payroll tax filings and compliance requirements.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Prepare payroll reports and provide analysis to management and accounting teams.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Work closely with HR, Accounting, Finance, and management to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Identify payroll errors, trends, and opportunities to improve processes and accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information.
- Assist with audits and provide supporting payroll documentation as requested.
- Stay current on payroll regulations, tax changes, and compliance requirements.
- Support payroll system updates, testing, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll, accounting, finance, or related experience.
- Previous experience with HHA eXchange (strongly required), and Axess (prefered).
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and payroll accounting.
- Experience with payroll software and/or HRIS systems.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis (required).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Experience with multi-state payroll is a plus.
- Experience with payroll tax compliance is a plus.
- CPP or FPC certification is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Payroll processing for 100+ employees.
- Multi-state payroll experience.
- Experience with ADP, Paychex, Gusto, UKG, Rippling, Paylocity, or similar payroll platforms.
- Experience reconciling payroll to the general ledger.
- Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Experience supporting payroll audits and year-end W-2 processes.
