Job Description

**This is a full-time independent contractor role. Candidates must be able to commit exclusively to this position and not engage in part-time or freelance work once hired.**

CLIENT BACKGROUND

Our client takes care of every financial task so their clients can focus on running their businesses. They provide bookkeeping, accounting, tax services, QuickBooks Online cleanup, and payroll support to service-based businesses, including hair salons, plumbers, small businesses, and real estate professionals.

Unlike traditional accountants who only appear during tax season, our client is a year-round partner, offering practical financial advice that is both valuable and easy to understand. With over two decades of experience, they have tackled a wide range of financial challenges—from complex tax situations to bookkeeping issues—ensuring their clients receive proactive solutions, not just quick fixes. Their expertise allows them to anticipate and prevent potential financial problems, giving business owners peace of mind and the confidence to focus on growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reconciliations

  • Bank accounts
  • Credit card accounts
  • Other assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure all reconciliations tie to statements and are fully supported with proper documentation.

Cleanup & Error Correction

  • Duplicate transactions
  • Mis-postings
  • Missing transfers
  • Bank feed errors
  • Uncleared or stale transactions requiring cleanup
  • Maintain clean, accurate balance sheet accounts in accordance with SOPs.

Journal Entries (per SOP)

  • Document all journal entries in the JE log
  • Flag items that require reviewer judgment or approval

Reviewer Support / Questions Log

  • Identifying unusual, unclear, or incomplete items
  • Documenting questions clearly and concisely
  • Prepare a complete review package aligned with the firm's Ready-for-Review standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of US bookkeeping experience in a US firm
  • Strong Quickbooks Online experience is required
  • Comfortable preparing journal entries using established templates and SOPs
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to consistently follow checklists and maintain documentation standards
  • Strong written English communication skills, including maintaining a questions log and providing clear review notes

  • Personal equipment (laptop or desktop computer) 2 extra monitors - ** client can reimburse for the 2 extra monitors if not available.
  • Reliable, stable and high-speed internet
  • A dedicated, private workspace that is free from distractions, ensuring confidentiality and optimal focus on tasks.
