Job Description: UNIX / Red Hat Linux Administrator
We are seeking an experienced UNIX / Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and support enterprise Linux and UNIX environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for system administration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, security, patching, automation, and production support.
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and UNIX servers.
- Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, sudo access, and authentication services.
- Perform operating system patching, upgrades, hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and resource utilization.
- Troubleshoot server, operating system, network, storage, and application-related issues.
- Manage filesystems, LVM, NFS, RAID, multipathing, and disk space utilization.
- Configure and maintain services such as SSH, DNS, NTP, FTP/SFTP, HTTP, and SMTP.
- Support high-availability, clustering, backup, and disaster-recovery environments.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using Shell scripting, Ansible, or Python.
- Review system logs and conduct root-cause analysis for incidents and recurring problems.
- Collaborate with application, database, network, security, and infrastructure teams.
- Participate in change management, incident management, and on-call support activities.
- Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
Details:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-7 years of experience in UNIX/Linux system administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Knowledge of UNIX systems such as AIX, Solaris, or HP-UX is preferred.
- Experience with Shell scripting and Linux command-line tools.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, firewalls, and networking concepts.
- Experience with system monitoring, backup, patching, and configuration management tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, ticketing systems, and change-control procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues independently.
Preferred Skills
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Experience with Ansible, Git, Python, or Terraform.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware.
- Knowledge of security tools, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting clustered or highly available environments.
