Job Description

Profile Summary:

Provides essential data analysis to enhance tools and information related to company group underwriting objectives. Builds and tests guidelines and performs Quality Assurance (QA) analysis to ensure pricing accuracy and minimize risk of error. Responsible for development / execution of ESL testing requirements to ensure updates function as intended. Develops tools to improve underwriting efficiency / accuracy to enhance business processes.

Profile Description:

• Other duties as assigned Review and provide recommendations on Stop Loss underwriting policies / procedures and ensure compliance through executing QA process. Develop informative metrics for Manager in refinement of QA program regarding adherence to risk rules. Provide QA review for assigned underwriters and relevant coaching to close learning gaps to measure the quality of underwriting decisions. In performing reviews, the Analyst should regularly review guidelines and present to Manager of QA and ESL relevant changes to documented guidelines.

• Create methodology and tools for ESL enhancement requirements and the subsequent testing protocols. This will include working cross functionally to recommend business enhancements and with the ESL/ UW team to implement those enhancements. Role will create related tools utilizing Actuarial methodologies that will be used in the testing process to ensure the updates to ESL will result in the changes that are expected.

• Develop and analyze Stop Loss Renewal Strategy metrics.Includes being a lead liaison between Actuarial and Underwriting to support 800+ renewal cases annually and working with Sales and Actuarial to assure that the strategy is clearly understood and agreed upon.

• Use actuarially sound methodology to ensure that underwriting approaches are consistent with how the rate manual is created.This will result in the business being sold being aligned with the rate manual and will provide feedback to the Actuarial team on updates to the manual.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 5-7 years group underwriting and/or actuarial experience including management/supervisory experience
  • 1-2 years as a quality analyst
