Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Underwriting Assistant to support our Financial Lines team, with a focus on Directors & Officers (D&O) and Financial Institutions business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance professional looking to further develop their underwriting career within a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive underwriting and administrative support to the Financial Lines underwriting team.
  • Liaise closely with brokers and clients to obtain all necessary submission information and modelling data required to commence the underwriting process.
  • Collaborate with Catastrophe Modelling and Actuarial teams to assist in achieving pricing targets.
  • Ensure all business is managed in line with underwriting guidelines, company strategy, and compliance requirements.
  • Review and prepare policy documentation, ensuring contract wordings, clauses, and subjectivities are accurate and satisfied prior to binding.
  • Manage the end-to-end workflow of submissions and deals within the business unit.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic filing and records for all business transactions.
  • Process bound submissions and endorsements within the SICS Accounting System.
  • Support Accounting and Claims teams with premium and loss-related queries.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements, including file compliance reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Claims, Accounts, Legal) and external partners to deliver high service standards and meet client expectations.
  • Meet established departmental service standards, including underwriting guidelines and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to special projects and additional tasks as required.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and mentoring of new team members within the underwriting unit.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) preferred.
  • 35 years experience within the insurance industry, ideally in Financial Lines.
  • Sound understanding of insurance policy wordings and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
