Qualifications

• 3-5 years of recent U.S. residential mortgage underwriting experience, including conventional first trust deed loans and appraisal review
• Required hands-on proficiency in Encompass LOS, with strong working knowledge of DU and LPA/LP
• At least 1 year of experience in a paperless U.S. mortgage or loan-processing environment
• Solid command of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines and conventional underwriting requirements
• Proven ability to assess credit, income, assets, collateral, appraisals, and compliance for informed loan decisions
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong analytical judgment, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management, with the ability to handle multiple files and deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assess loan applications and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, eligibility, and compliance with applicable guidelines
• Work closely with Account Management and Funding teams to resolve complex loan scenarios, restructure files, and meet critical deadlines
• Make underwriting decisions on new submissions, including approvals, suspensions, declines, and counteroffers
• Provide production teams with technical underwriting guidance and support on loan requirements
• Review outstanding conditions and complete final approvals within required funding turnaround times
• Investigate and resolve Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Post-Closing audit findings
• Maintain responsive service for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with established SLAs
• Support broader underwriting, team, and management requirements as needed
