We are seeking an experienced and clinically trained
Remote Triage Nurse to support a large multi-location dermatology practice. The ideal candidate has a strong clinical background, hands-on dermatology experience, and demonstrated proficiency with
ModMed. This individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, phone-intensive environment while providing exceptional patient care and service.
This position is initially intended to provide coverage for a maternity leave, with strong potential to transition into a permanent patient access role based on performance and organizational need.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle inbound clinical triage calls, assess patient symptoms and concerns, and route patients appropriately according to clinical protocols.
- Schedule patient appointments and provide support to the scheduling team as needed; cross-training is expected.
- Manage inbound faxes within ModMed by reviewing, classifying, documenting, and creating tasks for the appropriate departments.
- Monitor and respond to patient voicemail messages through Microsoft Office applications; convert messages into ModMed tasks and route them to the correct team.
- Assist with the Clara patient messaging platform by sorting incoming messages, responding when appropriate, and directing messages to the proper inbox or provider team.
- Serve as a cross-functional resource between triage and scheduling departments to ensure efficient patient access and continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions in ModMed.
- Adhere to HIPAA and all applicable privacy, confidentiality, and compliance standards.
- Support operational workflows and other patient access duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Clinical training as one of the following:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Medical Assistant (MA)
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant healthcare experience.
- Dermatology experience required.
- Proficiency with ModMed required.
- Strong patient communication skills with excellent telephone etiquette.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple workflows simultaneously, and work effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Reliable internet connection and a professional remote work setup.
- Previous experience in a call center, patient access, or high-volume healthcare scheduling environment.
- Familiarity with fax management and voicemail task workflows.
- Experience using Clara or similar patient messaging and communication platforms.
- Knowledge of dermatology scheduling, referrals, and clinical triage processes.
