Your Role:
As a Transport Packaging and Graphic Designer, you will :
- Lead the development and improvement of transport and retail packaging for the product for Modern Star.
- Build on the First Choice Best Choice promise, ensuring our range represents their First Choice and our OEM product always represents the BEST Choice!
- Continuous improvement and risk reduction of existing product
- Compliance with APCO regulations for all OEM products
- Development of new, environmentally friendly packaging for Modern Star across all categories
- Ensure packaging is fit for purpose, on time, on brand and in alignment with company requirements
- Design labels, product packaging graphics and product artwork
- Work with associated teams to update processes, tracking and packaging guidelines
- Work with the OEM, Education and associated brand teams to design graphic and transport packaging to reduce in-transit damage and promote the MTA and Modern Star brands across all item categories
- Design transport packaging for incumbent and new products, based on a thorough understanding of packaging standards, materials and branding to actively reduce damage in transit, improve ESG and reduce the cost of goods
- Work with various teams to design and deliver branding across product and packaging on time and on budget
- Source new suppliers, and work with new and existing domestic and internal manufacturers, suppliers and brands to evolve own developed and branded product ranges
- Work as part of a team at Modern Star (including sales, category, marketing, operations and finance departments) to deliver against overall company as well as departmental objectives
What You Need:
Non-negotiables
- Conceptual graphic development and creative ideation
- Competency with Adobe Suite and CAD
- Current knowledge of design trends and software innovation
- Competency to prepare digital and printed artwork
- Creative and competent design skills such as typography, layout and colour theory
- A comprehensive knowledge of packaging standards and compliance across fragile and dangerous goods packaging
- Comprehensive working knowledge of environmentally friendly packaging materials, processes and APCO regulations
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint & other Microsoft Office Apps
