Job Description
THIS IS A PROJECT BASED/ CONTRACTUAL ROLE
The Financial Crime Operations - Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Associate plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization against financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and other suspicious activities. The role involves monitoring and investigating transactions, detecting and preventing fraudulent activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks.
- Conduct initial analysis of system-generated alerts and unusual transaction patterns using internal monitoring tools.
- Perform daily reviews of flagged transactions, identifying indicators of financial crime (e.g., structuring, layering, account manipulation).
- Recommend immediate containment actions such as holds, freezes, or restrictions based on analysis.
- Prepare detailed case summaries, analysis reports, and supporting documentation for Officer/Manager review.
- Track and manage assigned cases through the investigation lifecycle, ensuring timely closure and proper audit trail.
- Profile high-risk customers and transaction flows to determine source of funds and legitimacy.
- Escalate red flags that require Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), STR filing, or law enforcement coordination.
- Conduct internal Fraud Investigation Reports (FIRs) for suspected fraud cases, including evidence gathering, interviews, and documentation.
- Investigate fraud-related complaints and analyze customer transactions for signs of digital fraud, phishing, card compromise, or synthetic identity usage.
The position is under the Onboarding and Financial Crime Operations Department and reports directly to the Financial Crime Operations Manager, who reports to the Head of Onboarding and Financial Crime Operations.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in financial crime detection, fraud prevention, or transaction monitoring is a plus.
- Strong understanding of AML regulations, fraud typologies, and compliance practices.
- Proficiency in fraud detection tools and transaction monitoring systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
