The Training Specialist I – plays a vital role in developing and enhancing the competencies of bill review staff by delivering specialized training on Medata systems, workflows, and compliance standards. This position is responsible for equipping employees with the technical knowledge and analytical skills required to accurately review medical bills, apply fee schedules, and ensure adherence to client guidelines and regulatory requirements.
The role partners closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Subject Matter Experts to identify training needs and continuously improve learning materials. Through effective facilitation, coaching, and performance evaluation, the Training Specialist contributes to operational efficiency, accuracy, and overall service excellence. This position supports a culture of continuous learning and quality-driven performance within the bill review environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required
- At least 1 year of experience in training, learning & development, or bill review operations
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and/or bill review processes (preferably Medata or similar platforms)
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Medata Bill Review System or similar bill review platforms
- Background in workers compensation, medical billing, or healthcare claims processing
- Certification in Training and Development (e.g., ATD, CPTD)
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools
- Knowledge of US healthcare billing guidelines and fee schedules
- Experience in a BPO or shared services environment
Responsibilities
- Deliver instructor-led and virtual training sessions on Medata bill review processes, system navigation, and client-specific guidelines
- Facilitate onboarding programs for new hires, including system training, workflows, and quality standards
- Partner with QA and Operations to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training interventions
- Update and maintain training materials, job aids, and process documentation specific to bill review operations
- Conduct refresher trainings and upskilling sessions to support performance improvement
- Monitor trainee progress through assessments, nesting support, and performance tracking
- Provide coaching and feedback to team members to improve accuracy, productivity, and compliance
- Evaluate training effectiveness using reports, audits, and performance metrics
- Support the implementation of digital learning tools and continuous process improvements
