The
Training and Development Specialist (US Tax) is responsible for the design and implementation of technical training programs focused on US Federal and State taxation. This role requires an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA with deep technical expertise to ensure the organization's tax professionals are updated on complex tax laws, IRS regulations, and filing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Tax Curriculum Design: Develop and maintain advanced training modules for US Federal and State taxation, covering individual (1040), corporate (1120/1120-S), partnership (1065), and fiduciary returns.
- Regulatory Updates: Monitor IRS updates, legislative changes (e.g., Tax Cuts and Jobs Act), and court rulings to ensure all training materials remain compliant and current.
- Performance Support: Provide high-level technical guidance to Department Managers regarding personnel issues and technical skill gaps in the tax department.
- Needs Assessment: Conduct technical training needs assessments and survey clients to align learning objectives with organizational tax goals.
- CPD Oversight: Oversee the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for tax professionals through the internal CPD Training Center.
- Innovation: Stay current with tax industry trends and bring innovative ideas to drive continuous improvement in tax preparation efficiency.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy (Master's in Accountancy or MBA preferred)
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role or technical accounting trainer role.
- Certifications: CPA is required. Additional certifications such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or ACCA DipIFR (Diploma in IFRS) are highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, and the differences between US GAAP and IFRS.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, and Bill.com.
