Job Description
The Trading Operations Lead oversees the trading team in ensuring efficient, technology-driven, compliant, and profitable power trading operations. This role is responsible for managing daily trading activities, market operations, regulatory compliance, operational strategies, and process improvements to support business objectives and maximize trading performance.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or any related field.
- Proven experience in trading operations and team leadership.
- Well-versed in the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) environment.
- At least three (3) years of experience in the RCOA industry or power sector operations.
- Strong knowledge of WESM operations, ERC regulations, and energy trading practices.
- Skilled in market analysis, forecasting, risk management, and operational planning.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and systems/programs applicable to RCOA operations.
- Preferably knowledgeable in power scheduling, settlements, and compliance processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee daily power trading operations, scheduling, nominations, and market transactions.
- Lead the trading team to achieve efficient and profitable operations.
- Monitor market activities, pricing trends, and operational risks.
- Ensure compliance with WESM, ERC, DOE, and other regulatory requirements.
- Review trading schedules, contracts, settlements, and reports.
- Develop strategies and process improvements to optimize trading performance.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, system operators, and internal teams.
- Prepare operational analyses, forecasts, and management reports.
- Handle operational concerns and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
