The Opportunity

Join a newly created Trade Accountant role supporting the Fresh Trading division of a leading Australian food manufacturer. Working closely with the Finance Manager and key stakeholders, you'll be responsible for month-end reporting, product costing, inventory accounting, forecasting, business analysis, and performance reporting that supports commercial decision-making. The role is well suited to accounting professionals with experience in manufacturing, FMCG, management accounting, or commercial finance who enjoy working with data, improving processes, partnering with stakeholders, and providing insights that drive business performance within a fast-paced and growing environment.

What You'll Do

Support month-end close activities including journals, reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.
Prepare and maintain product costing, inventory accounting, and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis to support business performance.
Develop forecasts, budgets, and financial models that support operational and commercial decision-making.
Partner with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to investigate variances, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Prepare management reports and performance dashboards to improve visibility of financial and operational results.
Drive process improvement and reporting automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls, and data accuracy.

Key Criteria

3+ years of experience in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Commercial Finance, or Finance Analyst roles.
Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Experience in product costing, inventory accounting, COGS analysis, margin analysis, or manufacturing/FMCG finance environments.
Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and large data-set analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
Proven stakeholder management experience, with the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.
Experience identifying opportunities for process improvement, reporting enhancements, or financial controls is highly regarded.
