Job Description

About the Company

As a key subsidiary of SMC Infrastructure, you will join the Company that is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the MRT7 project. The MRT7 Project is set to redefine the commute between Metro Manila and Bulacan by introducing a modern, high-efficiency rail network.

Driven by a commitment to reliability and sustainability, the Company aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion, strengthen regional connectivity, and catalyze economic growth.

The MRT7 Project at a Glance

The MRT7 is a 22-kilometer rail and road system extending from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Designed to be a backbone of northern metropolitan transit, the project features 14 strategically placed stations, including Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, University Avenue, Batasan, and San Jose del Monte.

Once fully operational, the MRT7 is engineered to support a massive daily capacity of up to 650,000 passengers, offering a faster and more seamless travel experience for the commuting public.

About the Role

The rationale and purpose of Trackwork Technician is to perform maintenance activities on a shifting schedule (day and night) as assigned by the Trackworks Lead, including patrolling duties to promptly respond to and address any trackwork-related failures. Core responsibilities include conducting inspections along the mainline and depot to maintain rails, turnouts, plinth tracks, and ballasted tracks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rigorous schedule of inspections and lubrication to prevent system failure.
  • Conduct visual vehicle inspections, manual greasing of switch rails, and lubrication of checkrails and guardrails.
  • Perform detailed on-foot inspections of both the mainline and depot tracks to identify subtle wear or hazards.
  • Perform advanced technical assessments including Track Geometry measurements and Ultrasonic Rail-Defect Detection to find internal rail cracks.
  • Address wear and tear or unexpected damage to ensure track integrity by replacing loose or broken components, correcting horizontal and vertical track alignment, and grinding rail corrugations; ensure all repairs are logged in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
  • Serve as part of the Quick Response Team (QRT) to minimize operational downtime.
  • Respond to failures within strict manual-defined timeframes.
  • Work directly with the Fault Controller and provide detailed Incident Reports that include Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) and repair recommendations.
  • Support supply chain procedures to ensure the right tools and materials are available by analyzing historical data to signal maintenance needs, verifying the quality of delivered goods, and supervising third-party contractors, and coordinating with Engineering/Planning on project scope and costs, certifying completed services for payment, and managing As-built documentation.
  • Identify and document Beyond Economic Repair (BER), obsolete, or damaged assets for disposal via the MMS.
  • Provide feedback based on field experience to update maintenance manuals and safety regulations.
  • Ensure timely submission of technical reports and documentation (3-day turnaround).
  • Verify that all specialized instruments are calibrated and in good condition before and after use.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols with a target of zero work-related incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Certification on Vocational Course/s; Diploma in Technology-related Fields; or graduate of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electronics, or other relevant technical courses.
  • Preferably with at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
