Job Summary:

The Title Underwriter is responsible in evaluating the title search results and assesses risk to support residential and commercial real estate transactions. The role ensures accurate title commitments, resolves title issues, and maintains compliance with state regulations and underwriting standards.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews and analyzes title search results, including deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, and probate records to assess insurability.

• Prepares title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements in compliance with company guidelines and state regulations.

• Identifies and resolves title defects such as legal description errors, outstanding liens, and missing interests.

• Utilizes title software (e.g., SoftPro, Qualia) to manage files, generate documents, and support closing processes.

• Ensures compliance with state-specific title insurance laws and underwriting standards.

• Acts as a subject matter resource for clients, attorneys, and internal teams on underwriting requirements.

• Interprets complex legal documents and back title references to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Manages multiple files and underwriting pipelines while meeting strict turnaround times.

• Communicates findings, requirements, and resolutions clearly through written correspondence.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in title underwriting.

• Must have experience in title software such as SoftPro or Qualia.

• Experience in real estate laws, title standards, and underwriting practices.

• Familiarity with residential and commercial real estate title matters preferred.
