Your Role
As a
Theft Prevention Officer, you will:
- Monitor CCTV footage across multiple self-service micro markets to identify theft, unpaid transactions, under-ringing, and suspicious customer behaviour.
- Analyse POS transactions, payment records, and sales reports to detect theft, loss events, transaction anomalies, and operational risks.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports with timelines, supporting evidence, and findings for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Identify repeat offenders and recurring behavioural patterns by reviewing historical incidents and investigation data.
- Escalate confirmed theft incidents to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring investigations are supported by sufficient evidence.
- Maintain accurate case records within the Loss Prevention system and track investigations through to resolution.
- Collaborate with Operations and management teams to communicate investigation findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor CCTV system health by identifying camera faults, recording failures, and visibility issues that may impact investigations.
- Support ad hoc investigations and contribute to continuous improvements in loss prevention processes, reporting standards, and operational procedures.
What You Need
Non-negotiables
- Proven experience in Loss Prevention, CCTV Monitoring, or a similar investigative role.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify behavioural patterns and suspicious activity.
- Experience analysing POS transactions, payment records, and sales reports.
- Excellent attention to detail with objective, evidence-based decision-making skills.
- Strong written English communication skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate investigation reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CRM platforms, and CCTV video management software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple investigations.
Preferred Skills/expertise
- Experience conducting investigations across retail, self-service, or unattended environments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Highly observant, organised, and methodical approach to investigations.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational risk reduction.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve security and operational issues.
