Technology Research & Innovation Lead (AI & Trust)

An established organisation at the forefront of technology, research and innovation is looking for a Technology Research & Innovation Lead to play a key role in shaping and advancing its AI and Trust Technology R&D agenda. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of deep technology, research strategy, industry collaboration and commercialisation.

Your new role

You will lead the development and delivery of strategic R&D programmes across AI and Trust Technologies, with a particular focus on taking research from strategy and funding through to industry adoption.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Defining research priorities and developing longer-term R&D strategies
• Developing funding proposals, programme outcomes and success metrics
• Building partnerships with leading researchers, industry partners and key stakeholders
• Securing funding to support new and existing R&D initiatives
• Overseeing the successful delivery of funded research programmes
• Connecting researchers with industry to drive collaborative projects and real-world adoption
• Supporting the commercialisation and adoption of research and intellectual property
• Representing programmes and initiatives with senior stakeholders and the wider technology ecosystem

What you'll need to succeed

You will bring a strong background in AI, Trust Technology, deep-tech, R&D or a related technology domain, combined with experience working across research and industry.
Ideally, you will have:

• Senior-level experience in R&D strategy, technology innovation or research programme leadership
• Experience developing and securing funding for major research or technology programmes
• A strong track record of building partnerships across industry, academia and the research ecosystem
• Experience translating research into industry partnerships, commercial outcomes or IP adoption
• Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior technical and non-technical audiences
• The ability to understand complex technology while maintaining a strategic and commercial perspective
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary programmes or teams
• Candidates from AI research, AI safety, digital trust, research commercialisation, emerging technologies or deep-tech R&D environments could be particularly relevant.
