Job Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a multi-asset investment firm for a hands-on technology professional to build AI tools, improve internal systems and make technology work effectively across the business.
This opportunity combines practical engineering work with exposure to an investment firm-and the potential to develop into a technology partner over time.
The role
You will take ownership of technology across the firm: identifying problems, deciding on practical solutions and implementing them yourself, with external providers where appropriate.
This is an individual contributor position with no direct reports or current mandate to build a team. You should enjoy writing code, connecting systems, troubleshooting issues and maintaining what you build.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain AI tools, internal applications and workflow automations.
- Work with colleagues to identify inefficiencies and turn business needs into working solutions.
- Improve integrations, data flows and the reliability of internal systems.
- Manage everyday technology needs, including applications, user access and coordination with external IT providers.
- Evaluate tools and vendors, making thoughtful decisions about what to build, buy or simplify.
- Support cybersecurity and technology risk work, including investor due diligence questionnaires and MAS TRM-related enquiries.
- Document systems and processes, keeping security, maintainability and business continuity in mind.
Who you are
You are a technically capable engineer or technology generalist who enjoys variety, takes initiative and follows through. You are equally comfortable experimenting with an AI application and resolving an everyday systems issue.
You bring:
- A solid foundation in software engineering, systems engineering or a similarly practical technical discipline.
- The ability to write code or scripts, work with APIs and integrate applications.
- Experience building or experimenting with AI tools to address real business needs.
- Familiarity with cloud services, access management and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Sound judgement about priorities, costs and when to seek specialist support.
- Clear communication and the ability to work independently with business colleagues.
- Curiosity about investing and how an investment firm operates.
You do not need to be an expert in every area. We are interested in what you have personally built, improved or maintained, and how you approach unfamiliar problems.
The longer-term opportunity
The immediate priority is to deliver useful, reliable technology for the firm. As your contribution grows, there is potential to develop into a trusted technology partner, with broader influence over how the firm uses technology.
For someone who also demonstrates investment interest and judgement, the role could evolve to include technical due diligence, investment evaluation and portfolio company support. Over time, this may open a path towards an investment partner or GP role.
That progression is a possibility to earn and develop together, rather than a guaranteed title or fixed promotion track. It will depend on your capabilities, contribution and the firm's needs.
What's on offer
- Broad ownership with direct access to business decision-makers.
- The opportunity to build and deploy AI solutions with visible business impact.
- Exposure to a multi-asset investment business.
- Scope and compensation shaped around the right individual's experience and capabilities.
- Room to grow both technical expertise and commercial judgement while remaining hands-on.
