Reporting to Director of Technical Project Management , the Technical Project Manager is accountable for delivering projects in alignment with all contractual obligations, ensuring professional execution that is cost-effective, timely, and meets or exceeds financial targets. The ultimate goal is to provide exceptional value to the client while safeguarding Finastra's reputation and profitability.

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects within agreed timelines and budgets. This includes coordinating internal resources, consultants, and third-party contractors to ensure successful delivery or applying robust change control processes when required. The role also involves defining project objectives, managing quality throughout the lifecycle, and fostering strong client relationships. While product-agnostic, the Technical Project Manager may specialize in certain business domains.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Project Manager, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Project Planning & Governance
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project and quality plans.
    • Establish effective project governance structures.
    • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables aligned with business objectives.
  • Execution & Delivery
    • Direct and manage all phases of project development from initiation to closure.
    • Coordinate resources and manage project staff and contractors.
    • Track milestones, deliverables, and critical paths using appropriate tools.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Provide clear, timely communication to stakeholders and team members.
    • Prepare and deliver regular status reports and ad-hoc updates on progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Financial & Risk Management
    • Ensure accurate financial tracking, including planned hour variances and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
    • Control project financials through effective change management and resource optimization.
    • Identify, document, and mitigate risks; develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Leadership & Best Practices
    • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve project goals.
    • Promote accountability and positive action within the team.
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of project management best practices and tools.
Requirements And Qualifications

  • Experience: 8 years of recent, direct experience in a similar role within insurance, financial services, or banking, with a focus on fixed-price/scope implementations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Payments industry expertise preferred.
  • Certifications: PMP certification is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in implementing and supporting complex enterprise software systems.
  • Methodologies: Strong understanding of project management frameworks and tools.
  • Soft Skills: Customer-focused, collaborative, highly organized, and an effective communicator.
  • Language: Proficient in English.
