Role: Senior Technical Manager
Client: Philippine renewable energy developer powering the country's clean energy revolution with solar and hydro projects
-Location: Metro Manila, Philippines (with project-site travel across Luzon)
-Hybrid (4x onsite)
-Employment Type: Permanent / Full-time
-Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
This role responsible for the technical workstreams across the development pipeline — solar PV, wind, and associated battery energy storage. Over the next phase, the role centres on development and design: feasibility, engineering studies, energy yield, grid interconnection, and technology selection that move projects from origination toward financial close and, in time, construction.
Responsibilities:
-Lead technical workstreams across the development phase: basic and feasibility-level design, energy and wind resource yield modelling, detailed and technical design, grid interconnection studies, resource and topography assessment, geotechnical investigation, and CAPEX estimation.
-Own technology selection and design optimization across solar PV, hydro, wind, and BESS — balancing energy yield, cost, bankability, and regulatory fit.
-Develop the technical basis for EPC and OEM procurement — drafting precise Employer's Requirements and scopes of work — and build the iterative, collaborative contractor relationships that reduce contractual disputes and schedule risk ahead of construction.
-Lead the appointment and ongoing management of the Owner's Engineer and EPC contractor, acting as Nextnorth's technical owner and single point of accountability to external delivery parties.
-Drive technical pre-construction readiness: design approvals, technical permits, NGCP interconnection milestones, Owner's Engineer appointment, and the conditions for Notice to Proceed (NTP).
-Own GEAP / GEA compliance for BESS integration — sizing, ESS ratio, duration, and round-trip efficiency requirements — and embed these into project design and procurement.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline); Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or Energy Finance is preferred.
-8–12 years of total professional experience, with at least 6 years in renewable energy — covering solar, hydro, and/or wind technical development, due diligence, lender advisory, or EPC management.
-Demonstrated experience leading technical and design workstreams on utility-scale renewable projects through development and toward construction, including managing Owner's Engineers and EPC contractors, ideally in the Philippine or Southeast Asian market.
-Working knowledge of Philippine regulatory and grid frameworks (DOE, ERC, NGCP grid codes, GEAP/GEA, IRESS) is strongly advantageous.
