About the Role
The Technical Support Officer provides support in implementing and maintaining ISO-compliant management systems across safety (ISO 45001), environmental (ISO 14001), and quality (ISO 9001) domains. Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer, this role assists with documentation, data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping ensure organisational compliance with legislative and procedural standards.
Job Description
Support for ISO Management Systems
- Assist in the day-to-day implementation and maintenance of ISO-compliant management systems.
- Help document procedures, risk assessments, and audits in alignment with environmental and safety standards.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and records, and helping with follow-ups on corrective actions.
Technical Operations Assistance
- Monitor inspections and conduct data collection in safety, environmental, and health domains.
- Report operational or compliance issues to senior officers and suggest preliminary corrective actions.
- Use and maintain tools, sensors, and software related to safety or environmental monitoring systems.
Data Entry, Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain and update registers, checklists, logs, and other compliance-related documentation.
- Prepare initial drafts of reports, graphs, or summaries for internal reviews (e.g., incident reports, hazard observations, KPI tracking).
- Assist in tracking actions related to safety/environmental improvement programs and system non-conformities.
Safety & Environmental Program Support
- Conduct toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness sessions under supervision.
- Observe and report unsafe behaviours, environmental concerns, or procedural non-compliance.
- Assist in preparing safety data sheets (SDS), risk assessments, and safety plans.
Training & Learning
- Participate in ongoing learning about ISO standards, company-specific policies, and technical procedures.
- Undertake e-learning, workshops, or mentorship programs to develop understanding of compliance systems.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Liaise with operations staff to gather data and feedback on system performance.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improvement opportunities.
- Support project teams in implementing initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability or safety enhancement.
Administrative Support
- Schedule internal audits, inspections, or meetings and track action items.
- Help maintain calendars, registers, and document control systems.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in project management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Proven experience on ISO standards, safety, environmental management, and quality systems.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements and implementation.
- Experience conducting internal audits and managing compliance programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in relevant software and data management tools related to compliance, safety, and quality management.
Advantageous Experience
- Lead Auditor Certification in ISO 9001, 14001, or 45001.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action implementation.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental impact assessment.
