Role: Technical Development Manager - Renewable Energy (Philippines)
Renewable Energy Developer & Technology Leader
Our client is a globally recognised player in the renewable energy sector, delivering utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, and clean energy solutions across international markets. They are seeking an experienced Technical Development Manager to lead the technical development of large-scale renewable energy projects in the Philippines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development of utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, and Wind Energy projects from early-stage development through to construction readiness.
- Conduct technical feasibility assessments and support site selection, project optimisation, and development strategy.
- Review and evaluate System Impact Studies (SIS), Facility Study Reports (FSR), grid studies, and technical reports, identifying grid connection constraints, curtailment risks, and mitigation measures.
- Manage technical workstreams for project development, including preparation of technical specifications, scopes of work, and RFP documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party consultants conducting:
- Topographic surveys
- Geotechnical investigations
- Flood and drainage assessments
- Geohazard studies
- Environmental and engineering assessments
- Perform technical due diligence, risk assessments, and engineering reviews to support project acquisitions, financing activities, and commercial transactions.
- Manage engineering design activities and provide technical guidance throughout project development and construction phases.
- Liaise closely with key stakeholders including NGCP, DOE, ERC, consultants, EPC contractors, and project partners to support permitting and grid connection activities.
- Ensure projects comply with Philippine Grid Code requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and development documentation to support internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience within utility-scale renewable energy projects, including at least 5 years in technical development.
- Proven experience developing Solar PV, BESS, and/or Wind Power projects.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- Solar PV systems
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Electrical engineering and power systems
- Substations and transmission infrastructure
- Renewable energy grid integration
- Hands-on experience using PVsyst for energy yield analysis, system optimisation, and design evaluation.
- Familiarity with the selection and technical evaluation of PV modules, inverters, BESS technologies, MV/HV equipment, and grid connection infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of Philippine grid connection procedures and renewable energy regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Excellent technical report writing, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites and stakeholder meetings across the Philippines.

- Experience conducting or reviewing power system studies, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short-circuit studies
- Voltage regulation assessments
- System stability analysis
- Renewable energy integration studies
- Exposure to project financing, technical due diligence, and investment evaluation processes within renewable energy projects.
