Job Description
About the Role
SN Aboitiz Power Group is seeking a Technical Development Engineer to ensure the systematic technical development of grid-scale renewable energy and energy storage project investments. Reporting directly to the Head of Project Development, this role oversees technical management excellence for greenfield and expansion projects—focusing on preliminary appraisals, pre-feasibility, feasibility, tendering, and engineering design phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Scoping & Project Phase Execution: Identify renewable energy and energy storage opportunities, establish basis-of-design criteria, collect/validate primary technical data, and execute screening through pre-construction phases.
- Engineering & Site Investigations: Design and supervise site investigation programs, oversee power systems engineering, and manage technical requirements across the project value chain.
- Contractor & Consultant Management: Establish terms of conditions, lead technical bidding and negotiations, manage external consultants, and evaluate final technical deliverables.
- Project Controls & Governance: Review KPIs using project management tools (e.g., PROMAS), track technical risks and opportunities, conduct due diligence, and prepare technical appraisal reports.
- Stakeholder & Regulatory Alignment: Coordinate technical aspects of permitting, land acquisition/Right-of-Way, transmission grid compliance (e.g., Philippine Grid Code, NGCP interconnection), and board-level project handovers.
Role Qualifications
Experience & Background:
- Minimum of 5 years combined experience in engineering design, technical management, tendering, and construction of renewable energy and energy storage system (BESS) projects.
- Deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, power systems infrastructure, and grid integration requirements.
- Practical experience in technical contract management, consultant quality control, and project due diligence.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Key Competencies:
- Expertise in electrical & power systems engineering, power system design, and engineering modeling software.
- Solid understanding of Right-of-Way (ROW) processes, power transmission regulatory requirements, and SHESQ protocols.
- Strong leadership, technical writing, and communication skills to interface with EPC contractors, system operators, and executive leadership.
