About the Client:
Our client is a Belgium-based installation company specializing in multi-technical building services, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. The company manages projects from concept to completion and works across residential developments, office buildings, residential complexes, and healthcare facilities in the Flanders and Brussels region.
To support their continued growth, they are expanding their technical team and are looking for a skilled Technical Calculator to support estimation and project preparation.
Position Overview:
As a Technical Calculator, you will be responsible for managing the full estimation processfrom technical study and design review to cost calculation and quotation preparationfor various multi-technical installation projects.
You will act as a key link between design and execution, ensuring that technical solutions are accurate, feasible, and cost-efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and follow up on technical studies in coordination with the Belgian engineering team.
- Review plans, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate cost calculations.
- Develop concept notes that clarify technical approaches and execution strategies.
- Prepare detailed quotations for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installations.
- Perform material take-offs and cost estimations based on drawings and project requirements.
- Analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations to determine the most competitive and technically sound options.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and consultants to ensure alignment across technical disciplines.
- Ensure proper integration between HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support smooth project execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 35 years of relevant professional experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical system design or estimation within construction or building services projects.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing material take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and detailed cost estimates.
- Working knowledge of building services systems, including ventilation systems, heat pumps, plumbing networks, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents with appropriate guidance and supervision.
- Proficiency in engineering and estimation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, PlanSwift, or equivalent tools.
- Strong analytical and numerical aptitude with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective English communication skills, both written and verbal, to support collaboration with international project teams.
