About the role:
This is a coding-first leadership role. You'll own the most important parts of the platform, mentor a small remote engineering team and work closely with Product to shape what gets built.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain critical platform features using TypeScript and Node.js
- Architect scalable backend services and APIs
- Review code, mentor engineers and set development standards
- Work closely with the Product Manager to turn ideas into technical plans
- Lead the team's use of AI tools and help build AI-powered product features
- Coordinate delivery across a small remote team working across time zones
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Strong backend architecture and API design skills
- Experience using Claude coding (Mandatory)
- Experience with React, Next.js or another modern frontend framework
- Previous experience leading engineers
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders
- Comfortable working remotely across time zones
Nice to Have
- GraphQL, AWS, TailwindCSS or React Native
- Experience with AI tools such as Claude, Cursor or Copilot
- Experience building AI-powered features or integrating LLMs

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
