Job Description

Location: Philippines (Remote)

Working hours: Philippines business hours (PH time zone alignment)

Compensation: PHP 200,000 - 270,000 per month (based on experience)

Reports to: CEO

ChangePlan.co is a SaaS company headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Our platform helps global enterprises — including Bridgestone and Duracell — manage the people-side of large-scale project rollouts, ensuring new systems and processes actually get adopted.

We're a small, fast-moving team modernising our architecture and building toward AI. We want a Tech Lead who can help us ship faster — and build the kind of foundation that lets us keep doing it.

About the Role

As our Tech Lead, you'll own the technical direction of our product and lead a team of 5 engineers.

You'll work directly with the CEO to drive delivery with urgency, translate business goals into a clear technical roadmap and make sure what we ship is robust, well-tested, and ready to scale.

This role suits someone who is hands-on, accountable, AI forward, and energised by working closely with a non-technical founder in a fast-moving startup.

The role is fully remote. The Philippines has a good daylight overlap with Sydney. We don't expect you to work odd hours, but we do expect a daily rhythm of communication.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

  • Lead architecture and system design for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Manage, mentor and grow a team of 5 engineers — including hiring, code review, and feedback.
  • Turn discussions with the CEO and product into concrete plans with clear timelines.
  • Identify where new AI tools can make us faster and better, and put them to work.
  • Keep the team focused and moving on the roadmap with a strong sense of urgency
  • Maintain a daily communication rhythm with the CEO — progress, blockers, and anything off-track.
  • Translate technical context, trade-offs, and industry norms for a non-technical CEO without making assumptions about prior knowledge.
  • Own the testing function — ensure robust testing happens before anything goes to clients, and drive towards full automation of ongoing testing.
  • Oversee infrastructure, deployments, and production support.

What You'll Bring – Technical Expertise

  • Strong system architecture and scalability experience, with a proven track record of scaling things up.
  • Deep understanding of databases and infrastructure, with particular expertise in NoSQL.
  • AI curiosity — actively exploring and adopting new tools to improve velocity and quality.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider) for hosting, deploying, and managing production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Node.js.
  • Working knowledge of modern frontend frameworks, especially React.
  • Experience designing and overseeing automated test suites end-to-end.
