Job Description

Provide legal support to the Conifer Legal Department under the direction and supervision of the Chief Legal Officer, representing and responding to the needs of the Company. This position will have primary responsibility for researching and investigating patient/guarantor disputes received from federal and state regulatory agencies, law firms, and the Better Business Bureau. The position will also act as liaison between the legal department and the company's operating units, administrative and other departments, employees, regulatory agency representatives and other individuals and vendors outside of Conifer in accomplishing departmental and specific project goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Research and investigate patient/guarantor disputes received from federal and state regulatory agencies, law firms, internal escalations, and the Better Business Bureau.
  • Input disputes in system of record and develop process to track and trend as well as report on disputes.
  • Filing and archiving documents in patient accounts and/or Legal's matter management system for disputes, case files, and collection agency licensing.
  • Sorting, scanning, and distribution of legal mail and self-pay account support, to include receipt and preparation for posting of payments, review and allocation of counsel invoices, and reconciliation of record retention invoices.
  • Assist with maintaining and applying for necessary company licensing.
  • General assistance for all attorneys and special projects as needed in support of various operating groups within Conifer.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

  • Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.

  • College degree preferred, not required.
  • 1-2 years of administrative experience.
  • Health care administrative experience preferred, but not required.

Compensation and Benefit Information

Compensation

  • Pay: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Position may be eligible for a signing bonus for qualified new hires, subject to employment status.
  • Conifer observed holidays receive time and a half.
