Job Description

PURPOSE (why does the position exist, WITH what objectives and WITHIN what limits)

The Tax Supervisor role exists to oversee and ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of all tax compliance and advisory functions across the organization's group of companies. This position supports the company's adherence to Philippine tax laws and regulations, mitigating risks related to non-compliance, and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of tax-related processes.

Objectives:

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, review, and submission of tax returns and related documents in full compliance with BIR and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and guide the tax team in managing tax audits, assessments, and inquiries, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Contribute to tax function leadership by effectively managing both team performance and deliverables.
  • Provide technical tax advice and support to various departments to align business activities with tax regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax processes and systems, including the adoption and implementation of relevant technology or software (e.g., Computerized Accounting System, Google Workspace tools, etc.);
  • Mentor and develop junior team members by promoting knowledge sharing, technical growth, and overall team capability.

Limits:

  • The Tax Supervisor functions within the framework of company policies, Philippine tax laws, and regulations set by governmental agencies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
  • Strategic tax decisions or those with significant financial impact are subject to review and approval by senior management or consultation with external tax advisors.
  • The role is confined to supervisory responsibilities and does not include legal representation before tax authorities unless formally authorized by the company.

The Tax Supervisor is also expected to maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive financial and tax-related information, in accordance with company policy and applicable data protection regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's/College Degree in Accountancy
  • Professional License (CPA)

Relevant Experience

  • At least 4 years of pertinent experience in the field of Taxation.

Technical Knowledge

  • Expertise in the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC), encompassing an in-depth understanding of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations, rulings, and all relevant updates and amendments.
  • Tax Filing and Compliance
  • Expertise in preparing and submitting tax returns including required attachments
  • Knowledge of deadlines and statutory requirements for tax filings
  • Proficiency in various BIR applications (eBIR, eFPS, eAFS, etc.)
  • Financial Reporting and Documentation
  • Tax Audit and Investigation Handling
  • Understanding of BIR tax mapping, audit processes, and handling inquiries
  • Skills to prepare necessary documents and respond to audit findings
  • Local government unit (LGU) taxes, such as real property tax and business permit registration and renewal.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Oversee full and timely compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax return filings, including thorough review, accurate preparation, and prompt submission of all required attachments.
  • Lead the team in the preparation and submission of Audited Financial Statements (AFS), Income Tax Returns (ITR), and related attachments to government agencies, including but not limited to BIR and SEC.
  • Ensure strict compliance of multiple entities with special regulatory requirements, including those mandated by BOI, CDC, PEZA, and other relevant government agencies.
  • Oversight and management of Real Property Tax Matters
  • Supervising the registration, updating, and submission of various BIR documents and requirements, including the Certificate of Registration, NIRI, Books of Accounts, and other related documents.
