- JOB SUMMARY
Oversee the tax affairs (i.e., strategic tax planning, tax compliance, transaction tax and tax risk management matters) of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units to ensure that: (1) taxes are managed appropriately, (2) tax risks are within acceptable parameters, and (3) the tax function operates in collaboration with other functional areas within the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units to meet wider business objectives.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the tax affairs (i.e., tax strategy, tax planning, tax compliance, tax risk management matters) of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units
- Oversee the management of national and local taxes of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units with the goal of minimizing tax payments and maximizing tax savings all while upholding the tax laws, rules and regulations
- Design sporadic tax review programs to increase the level of compliance, eliminate/mitigate potential tax exposures, improve tax practices/processes and identify opportunities for tax savings
- Collaborate with Subsidiaries and Other Business Units and advise on tax considerations for significant business plans and initiatives (e.g., tax due diligence reviews, financial model reviews, tax structuring, contract reviews)
- Address tax-related inquiries (e.g., tax compliance-related inquiries, tax risk control-related inquiries) of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units
- Monitor developments on new and upcoming tax laws, rules, and regulations, provide insights on said developments, and guide Subsidiaries and Other Business Units to prepare/implement upcoming changes, as necessary
- Assist in advocating for the interest of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units on tax-related matters
- Supervise and advise on the handling of BIR and LGU audits (e.g., provide inputs on protest letters, suggest actions to take to resolve issues and close audits)
- Collaborate with the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units finance teams, legal and/or external counsels in tax litigation cases and claims for tax refunds
- Disseminate monthly tax deadlines by way of monthly tax calendar to the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units
- Suggest process improvements and/or policies and guidelines to improve the tax function of the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units
- Design and establish a tax compliance monitoring system for the Subsidiaries and Other Business Units
- Perform other related duties

QUALIFICATIONS (i.e. Education, Licenses, Certificates, Skills, Relevant experiences)
- Must be a certified public accountant and/or a tax lawyer
- Has at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Preferably held a managerial/executive role in the tax practice of a consulting company (e.g., Big 4 firm)
