The Tax Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting for both national and local requirements. This role oversees tax filings, reviews tax-related schedules, and ensures adherence to applicable regulations, while supporting audits and managing tax risks for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure 100% on-time and accurate filing and payment of all national and local taxes, including compliance with BIR and LGU requirements
- Manage renewal of business permits and other regulatory requirements with Local Government Units (LGUs)
- Monitor and ensure timely payment of real property taxes
- Review and validate tax returns, working papers, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Perform reconciliation of accounting records and tax reports, ensuring alignment of tax and financial data
- Prepare and support BIR and LGU audit requirements, including schedules and documentation
- Analyze financial data to identify tax exposures, risks, and opportunities for optimization
- Ensure compliance with BIR tax mapping and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of tax-related general ledger (GL) accounts
- Supervise, coach, and review the work of Tax Assistants
- Maintain organized and up-to-date tax records and documentation for the group
- Keep abreast of tax laws, regulations, and issuances, ensuring timely implementation of changes
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy; CPA license is preferred
- At least 5–7 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within the real estate or property development industry
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR regulations, and LGU requirements
- Experience in handling tax audits and assessments is an advantage
- Proficient in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and MS Office applications
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
- Willing to work on-site
- Willing to render extended hours when necessary
