The Tax Lead (TL) will oversee all tax-related matters for East-West Seed Philippines, serving as the organization's primary expert and advisor on Philippine tax compliance and regulations. The TL ensures the proper implementation and monitoring of all tax requirements and provides guidance to the entire EWPH business on the tax implications of various activities and decisions.
This role also supports and oversees the country finance team on all tax matters to ensure full compliance, and drive tax-related projects and initiatives.
Roles and Responisbilities
- Manages tax compliance, reporting, filing, and payment of tax liabilities in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Ensures company tax practices remain current with the latest revenue laws, regulations, memoranda, and orders.
- Develops strategies to optimize tax payments and identify lawful tax-saving opportunities.
- Reviews tax calculations, reports, applications, and returns prior to submission to regulatory bodies.
- Liaises with tax authorities and provides audit support for the Group.
- Leads process improvements, including the transition from manual to automated tax filing, in coordination with EWS.
- Maintains and reviews tax balances within accounting records.
- Provides internal tax advisory services and guidance on business operations.
- Identifies and mitigates tax risks by developing and implementing best practices.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams on various tax matters.
- Ensures tax policies are properly implemented, monitored, and documented.
- Trains, mentors, and develops accounting staff on tax matters and proper tax-related data entry, while sharing knowledge across teams as needed.
- Reviews financial statement entries to identify errors with material impact on tax filings and compliance.
- Performs other tax-related duties and responsibilities as required.
- At least 7 years of experience in tax or finance-related roles
- Holds CPA Licensce and/or is a qualified Tax Lawyer
