Job Description

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely preparation and filing of tax returns and regulatory requirements for assigned client accounts, including complex entities and multiple simple accounts.
  • Prepare reliable tax schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents that facilitate efficient reporting, audits, and assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with BIR regulations and other applicable tax laws while minimizing tax-related risks and penalties.

  • Comply with performance metrics, standard operating procedures, and internal controls to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ensure all work is properly documented and compliant with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential process issues or inefficiencies and raise suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain open communication with team members and client contacts, promoting a culture of accountability, learning, and service excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Compliance & Filing

  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, including but not limited to:
  • Expanded Withholding Tax (EWT)
  • Final Withholding Tax (FWT)
  • Value-Added Tax (VAT)
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)
  • Withholding Tax on Compensation
  • Documentary Stamp Tax (DST)
  • Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT).
  • Ensure timely submission of BIR forms, alphalists, and supporting schedules through eFPS/eBIRForms.
  • Monitor tax filing deadlines and coordinate tax payment requests to ensure timely compliance.
  • Maintain an updated tax compliance calendar for assigned accounts.
  • Review tax computations and returns prepared by junior team members, as applicable.

Tax Schedules & Reconciliations

  • Prepare tax schedules and reconciliations between tax returns, General Ledger, and Financial Statements.
  • Reconcile withholding taxes (2307), SAWT, SLSP, and other tax-related schedules.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies and variances.

Audit Regulatory & Support

  • Assist in BIR audits, tax investigations, and LGU assessments.
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and responses to tax-related queries and notices.
  • Coordinate with clients, government agencies, and internal teams regarding tax compliance requirements.
  • Support tax registrations, updates, closures, and other regulatory filings when required.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain updated and accurate documentation of processes, approvals, and audit trails.
  • Support compliance with internal controls and data protection policies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in team huddles, training sessions, and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on process enhancements or automation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team leads and managers to implement best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA-track is an advantage
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably in a shared service or BPO environment
  • Experience in handling complex transactions

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in preparing various tax returns and tax-related schedules.
  • Familiarity with eFPS, eBIRForms, and other government filing platforms.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas, lookups)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks); able to navigate and analyze data effectively
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in basic accounting principles (GAAP/PFRS).
  • Good understanding of accounting processes such as GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and financial reporting
  • Experience handling multiple accounts and complex tax engagements.
