JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Systems Integration Engineer is to develop and maintain integrations between manufacturing systems, control platforms, and IIoT infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, real-time data exchange. The role configures and programs integration layers linking shopfloor systems to enterprise and cloud platforms, applying best practices in connectivity, data governance, and industrial communication to enhance system performance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Assess and design data connectivity solutions for integrating shopfloor systems (equipment, testers, PLCs, SCADA) with MES, ERP, and cloud analytics platforms.
2. Implement and maintain integrations by configuring IIoT platforms to capture, transform, and transmit operational data securely in real time.
3. Apply industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet) to ensure interoperability across OTIT layers.
4. Develop, deploy, and monitor cloud-based data pipelines that enable analytics, traceability, and predictive applications.
5. Diagnose and resolve connectivity and data flow issues to maintain reliable and continuous operations.
6. Enforce compliance with cybersecurity standards, data governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
7. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation of integration architectures, system interfaces, and workflows.
8. Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure integration solutions meet enterprise data quality, performance, and scalability requirements.
9. Evaluate and implement emerging IIoT and cloud integration technologies, driving automation, standardization, and continuous improvement in data connectivity.
10. Perform other tasks as needed to support IT initiatives and business objectives.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. Formal Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Instrumentation Engineering, or other closely related engineering fields with strong background in control systems and industrial automation.
2. Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in OTIT systems integration, with direct involvement in connecting manufacturing equipment, control systems, or SCADA/IIoT platforms
3. Training/Skills:
- Skilled in configuring and operating IIoT integration pipelines to connect shopfloor equipment, PLCs, and SCADA with MES, ERP, and cloud analytics platforms.
- Proficient in applying integration methods and industrial protocols (APIs, message queues, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet) to ensure secure, real-time OTIT data exchange.
- Proficient in PLC and HMI systems with emphasis on data capture, interfacing, and integration into IIoT and enterprise platforms.
- Skilled in troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues to ensure system reliability.
- Effective in producing technical documentation and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud IoT services for device connectivity and real-time data streaming.
- Familiarity with databases and ETL techniques to support analytics and reporting.
