System Engineer, Trading (Banking, 1-year renewable contract)

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse, design, develop, implement, and support Equities Trading systems within a banking and financial services environment.
• Participate in end-to-end solution delivery, including:

o Business and technical requirements analysis

o Functional and technical design

o System integration and interfacing

o Development and configuration

o Unit Testing, SIT, UAT, and production deployment

o Post-implementation and production support

• Design, implement, and support FIX protocol-based interfaces for order routing, execution, and trade processing.
• Develop and support message-driven architectures using Message Queue (MQ) technologies for internal and external system integrations.
• Provide hands-on support for applications running on Oracle databases and Linux/Unix platforms.
• Support equities trading functions including order management, execution management, trade capture, confirmations, and settlement interfaces.
• Collaborate with business users, project teams, vendors, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
• Perform production support activities including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident resolution, and performance tuning.
• Ensure solutions comply with security, risk, regulatory, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience within Banking and Financial Services technology environments.
• Proven experience implementing and supporting Equities Trading systems within front-office, trading, or capital markets environments.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with FIX Protocol (FIX 4.x / FIX 5.x) for trading and market connectivity.
• Strong technical expertise across equities and/or FX trading systems, market data platforms, SaaS/cloud solutions, and related technologies.
• Hands-on experience with:

o Oracle and MS SQL Server databases

o Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting

o Message Queue (MQ) technologies

o Java/J2EE, JSP/Servlets

o Application servers such as JBoss, Apache, and Tomcat

o DevOps and CI/CD tools including Jenkins and Bitbucket

o Scheduling and monitoring tools such as Control-M, Splunk, and Geneos

• Experience deploying and configuring applications within newly provisioned environments, including network, storage, database, monitoring, and automation components.
• Strong experience in Oracle SQL development, data analysis, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of the equities trading lifecycle, capital markets operations, and market technology platforms.
• Experience supporting mission-critical and low-latency trading applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and production support capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with brokerage or equities trading platforms.
• Experience working with vendor trading systems and market data feeds.
• Exposure to regional or global trading platform implementations and rollouts.
• Knowledge of DZH or similar brokerage trading solutions would be advantageous.
